I joined this amazing project before the project received the infamous name of CoComelon! In the early days we were given a nursery rhyme and collaborated on story ideas, and from there it was up to each animator to figure how to show the story to the pace of the song. Within a three week time span we developed the project structure, sequence editing, environment layout, camera animation, character and prop animation, sound effects timing and mixing, final video output, and promotional thumbnail creation. Along the way we would collaborate with the asset development team on what we needed to fully tell our story, the effects artist for simulation creation, the music supervisor to figure out song pacing and tone of the episode, and the lighting lead to get the right look for the episode's story. These early days taught me how to be organized so I could be truly efficient with the short amount of time we had to complete each episode, as well as taking the time to have discussions with other departments so we can accomplish the best work we could achieve in that time span.

When Moonbug Entertainment acquired CoComelon, I was honored to stay on with the project and lead it into a new era. I became the Animation Director for the first few years to help the expansion of the team and beginning our collaborations with studio partners. We essentially tripled the size of the project team, so this expansion took a lot of reorganization of our processes to figure out how we can maintain our efficiencies but better our quality. After the processes were tested and felt like we were headed in the right direction, Moonbug decided to expand the project again by partnering with even more studios to help expand the CoComelon universe.

This is when I stepped into the Director role and began overseeing all aspects of each episode, which I was essentially doing in those early days of CoComelon so this role was a perfect fit for me. What I hadn't anticipated is the fact that we produced over 200 episodes my first year as director, so I had to learn to clearly communicate each episode's vision with the department leads and then trust them to follow through since I did not have enough time to be on a granular level with every episode. The next year we reduced our cadence and I had a partner director overseeing half of the production so we were able to collaborate between all departments throughout every episode which created such a fun creative space for all team members!

Now my time with the CoComelon project has come to an end, and I have loved being apart of a creative team that helped this grow from a no-name project to a world renowned brand. The many years showed me so many different ways of accomplishing my tasks, and how to respect my peer's methods as well. The growth I feel from my failures along the way is exponential and I look forward to continue practicing the successes!
